Hi there,
I'm Amy!

My name is Amy Williams and I have been an educator for over twenty years and I am excited to be providing tutoring and classes for local homeschool families here in Fort Wayne. It is my desire to help each child grow in their ability and confidence and to provide support for students and families on their homeschooling journey.

I have been married to my husband for 19 years and have two amazing boys. I love to read, exercise, garden, attend church, and spend time with loved ones.

My Background

I've known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was twelve years old and I started my journey toward becoming an educator in my teen years. In high school, I spent time volunteering in elementary classrooms, teaching swim lessons, and tutoring with the AVID program. While in college, I continued to work gaining experience as a children's ministry assistant, AVID Teacher Trainer, and substitute teacher. I completed my Credential with Character Program at William Jessup University and began teaching full time at a local public school. I taught various grades from 1st through 4th grade during my six years at two different public schools.

When my first child was born I was blessed with the ability to turn my attention toward home, but continued to keep my foot in the teaching world with helping run a co-op preschool with other families and working for a year at a private preschool where my son attended. When my oldest entered Kindergarten we began our homeschooling journey as a family. In 2020, at the request of a dear friend who needed some help teaching her five children, I began tutoring virtually and Enlighten Educational Services was launched. I gradually began adding students as time allowed. Around the same time, I fell in love with the book Uncovering the Logic of English and it awakened in me a new excitement about teaching the reading process. I purchased a complete set of the curriculum and began using the Orton-Gillingham inspired structured literacy approach with my own kids as well as my students with great success. I completed a 40 hour training to become a certified master teacher with Logic of English and through their website began tutoring homeschool students from around the country. My students included those diagnosed with dyslexia and other special needs.

In 2021, I began teaching homeschool enrichment classes in a variety of subjects, from literature to Chemistry, and was grateful to be working with students in person again. In 2022, a change in my husband's job situation led my family to a cross-country move and we now call Fort Wayne home. I'm excited to be relaunching my business, Enlighten Educational Services, here in Fort Wayne, to provide support, enrichment, and personalized instruction for my students and their families.
